Configure time tracking for your workspace

Rename and reorder the task types and categories your team picks from, and optionally cap entry length.

Everything is on one page: Settings β†’ Time tracking (/settings/time-tracking). It covers the maximum hours per entry, plus the task types (project) and categories (internal) shown when logging time.

Task types and categories

A toggle switches between the two scopes:

  • Project β€” the task types your team picks when logging time on a project, grouped by phase: Pre-production, Production, Post-production and General. The list covers the whole pipeline β€” scriptwriting, storyboarding, location scouting, filming, main edit, colour grading and more β€” not just post-production tasks.
  • Internal β€” the categories your team can track non-project time against, split into Default and Company groups.

Editing them

  • Rename in place β€” already-logged time keeps its category and just picks up the new label.
  • Drag to reorder β€” the order carries straight through to the timer's pickers.
  • Add your own with the add field, for example "Color grading" or "Acquisition".
  • Archive ones you no longer use, and toggle Show archived to bring them back.
  • Reset to defaults restores the standard set.

Changes are immediate β€” your team's pickers update instantly.

Max hours per entry

The Max hours per entry card caps how many hours someone can log in a single entry. It is off by default, meaning no limit.

Turn the switch on and set a number between 1 and 24 to require splitting long sessions into smaller entries β€” a 3-hour cap, for example, nudges people to log pre-cut, main edit and colour separately rather than as one nine-hour block. When it is on, the log-time form shows "Max 3 hours per entry. Log each task separately."

This is a workspace-wide setting, so agree on it with your team before switching it on.

Team rates

Hourly rates are a separate page: Settings β†’ Finance (/settings/finance). Set each teammate's internal hourly rate there β€” it is used for project cost projections and is never shown to clients. Only admins and managers can view team rates.
