How per-seat billing works

Studio bills per paid seat, adjusts automatically as your team changes, and keeps removed seats open until the next cycle.

There is one plan β€” Studio β€” billed per seat, monthly or yearly. Your bill follows your team automatically; you never have to buy seats in advance or remember to downgrade.

What counts as a paid seat

Admin, Manager and Member are paid seats. Limited seats are free at a ratio of 1 free limited seat per 5 paid seats; extra limited seats cost €19 per month each.

Adding someone

When you send an invite from Settings β†’ Members, a Seats & billing dialog shows you the exact effect before anything happens: new paid seats, any extra limited seats, the prorated amount charged when they join, and your new subscription total.

Two rules make this predictable:

  • Pending invites are free. You are only billed when someone accepts.
  • New seats are prorated β€” you pay for the part of the cycle they are actually there.

Removing someone

Removing a member does not shrink the bill mid-cycle. Their seat stays open and already paid for until your next billing date. If you add someone else before then, they slot into that open seat at no extra cost. The Plans page shows this as, for example, "2 already-paid seats open until 12 March β€” the next members join at no extra cost."

This is deliberate: swapping a freelancer out and another in during the same month should not cost you twice.

Seeing your current seat usage

Go to Settings β†’ Plans. The Studio card shows how many paid seats you are billed for, how many are currently in use, the per-seat price and your monthly total, plus any extra limited seats. Billing adjusts automatically as members change.

Monthly versus yearly

  • Monthly β€” launch pricing, locked in for as long as you stay subscribed, cancellable any month.
  • Yearly (Founding Member) β€” pilot pricing for the first cohort of seats, billed annually upfront, and locked in for as long as you stay subscribed. The card shows how many founding seats are left, and once they are gone the button reads Sold out.

If invites are blocked

Two messages you might hit:

  • "This workspace has no active subscription β€” reactivate it before inviting members."
  • "Seat limit reached β€” every paid seat on this subscription is in use. Raise the limit or remove a member." This applies to workspaces on an agreed seat allowance rather than automatic Stripe billing.

Workspaces billed offline

Some workspaces are invoiced directly rather than through Stripe. In that case invites go out without a cost dialog, and the seat dialog explains that your workspace is billed offline with an agreed allowance of paid seats that new members count toward.
